A strong westerly JET STREAM will help blow a couple of cold fronts through the Rocky Mountain region over the next few days. Colorado will miss most of the moisture with these fronts, as they spread the main rain and snow over Wyoming and Montana.

After a lovely Tuesday, skies will remain mostly clear tonight with just a few high cirrus clouds expected. Winds will be from the southwest ahead of the approaching cold front that is now moving across Idaho and Utah toward Colorado.

Lows by morning will be in the 30s to low 40s in the mountains and in the upper 40s to middle 50s for Denver and the plains.

Temperatures will be warm on Wednesday ahead of the cold front with highs near 80 degrees in Denver and around 90 over southeastern Colorado. The winds will increase ahead of the cold front. Expect gusts of 15-25 mph in the morning. The front will race over the mountains and onto the plains in the afternoon. Winds will shift and blow out of the northwest and will gust 20-40 mph.

High Wind Warnings are in effect for Wednesday in southeast Wyoming and north central Colorado - a concern for the wildfires in the area. Fire Weather Warnings are in effect for Wednesday afternoon across most of northern Colorado.

The next cold front will be a dry one, but it will roll through and bring cooler air by early Thursday with lows in the 20s in the mountains and around freezing in the Denver area. Expect highs in the upper 50s to low 60s on Thursday afternoon with sunshine and lighter winds..

Friday and Saturday will be less windy and a little warmer again with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Another cold front will arrive and Sunday and may bring some light rain to the plains and some snow to northern and central mountains. While not a big storm, at least a little moisture is expected. Temperatures will be colder again with highs in the 50s Sunday and Monday.
