DENVER —We have issued a First Alert Action Day for Friday. Severe storms will be affecting Denver and the eastern plains Friday afternoon and evening.
Tonight, we are seeing a few widely scattered thunderstorms over northeastern Colorado. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for extreme northeastern Colorado until 11 pm tonight. Skies will be partly cloudy in the Denver area, with mild, dry weather along I-25 and stretching west through the mountains.
Another round of cooler, unsettled weather arrives starting Friday and continuing into the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms will become likely once again, with a good chance for severe thunderstorms from the I-25 Corridor east into Kansas and Nebraska Friday afternoon.
We have issued a First Alert Action Day because the threat for severe weather is high on Friday. Be prepared for heavy rain and hail in Denver and the plains.
Expect even cooler temperatures on Saturday, with highs on in the low 50s. Showers will be likely on Saturday, but it will probably be too cool for strong thunderstorms.
A few more storms and showers are possible on Sunday and temperatures will climb into the mid-60s. Warmer and drier weather will return for Monday and Tuesday.
