DENVER — The recent round of storms has truly put the mountains in great early season shape!
Most ski resorts reported good 18 to 24 inches of fresh powder this past weekend. Be careful when heading through the high country as there are still some roads that are snow-covered and slippery in spots, especially areas that do not get much sunshine.
The weekend storm also dropped a lot of snow across Kansas and southern Nebraska. Skies have cleared after a really rough day on Sunday, but there will be plenty of slippery stretches.
In Denver and along the I-25 Corridor, weather and road conditions are in good shape with mainly clear skies and dry roads.
Dry and mild conditions are expected across the state for the next two days. Highs in Denver will climb into the 50s on Tuesday and around 60 degrees on Wednesday.
A new series of storms will begin to affect the region by Thursday. Snow will develop in the mountains and clouds will increase for Denver and the eastern plains. Temperatures will begin to cool with highs dropping back into the upper 40s in Denver.
Light snow and rain along with colder weather can be expected in Denver on Friday with highs around 40 degrees. The mountains should see moderate to heavy snow Thursday night and early Friday.
Saturday will be chilly with some flurries and highs in the mid-to upper 30s. More snow will be developing for the central and southwest mountains.
A stronger storm will likely swirl into the state Saturday night and Sunday with heavy mountain snow and a chance for several inches of snow in Denver and across the eastern plains.
Early next week will be cold with snow diminishing.
