DENVER —More mild weather is ahead for Denver and all of Colorado this week with highs about 10 to nearly 20 degrees above normal for the middle of December.

Some high clouds will drift across our skies, but only a few light snow showers will be possible in the mountains this week. A couple of minor weather disturbances will cross the central Rockies, but no major storms are expected through Friday.

Expect partly cloudy conditions tonight, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s for Denver and the eastern plains and in the teens to low 20s in the mountains.

Tuesday, skies will be partly cloudy to clear across the state, and highs in Denver and over the eastern plains will reach the mid-50s. In the mountains, temperatures will be in the upper 20s to mid-30s.

Strong winds will develop over Colorado Tuesday night and early Wednesday. A HIGH WIND WATCH is in effect for the northeast plains for gusts of 40-50 mph by early Wednesday. Temperatures will be a little cooler with highs in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees in Denver and in the upper 20s to low 30s in the mountains. Some snow showers can be expected in the mountains.

Highs will be in the low to mid-50s again Thursday for lower elevations, with 30s in the mountains. Skies will return to mostly sunny across the state.

Friday will be warm and dry with upper 50s to low 60s under a mostly sunny sky. In the mountains, spring-skiing conditions with temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.

The weather pattern will shift a bit over the weekend, with colder temperatures and a better chance for fresh powder in the mountains. Denver will be have highs back in the 40s with some flurries possible on Sunday.

So far, Denver has received just 7.7 inches of snow this season and by the end of the month we would have normally see around 21 inches of snow.

It does appear that the weather will slip back into a more active pattern around Christmas with colder temperatures and a chance for at least a little snow in Denver!
