DENVER — Skies are clear over Colorado, with unseasonably warm weather - enjoy it for another day, but changes are coming late in the week.

The clear skies and dry air mean that nighttime temperatures will cool off. Lows will be in the low 30s for Denver and the eastern plains, mid-to upper 30s for the foothills and western suburbs, but the high mountain valleys will be much colder — lows in the single digits and teens.

Bright sunshine will again hold for Wednesday and temperatures will warm nicely. Expects highs in the Denver area to be in the mid-to upper 60s with 40s to around 50 degrees in the mountains and western valleys.

There will be some high clouds drifting into western Colorado later in the afternoon - just ahead of a cold front that will cross the state on Thursday and bring colder weather and snow for Friday.

The cold front is not expected to be a major system, but could drop a couple inches of snow over the metro area and 4 to 8 inches in the mountains.

Colder weather with a chance for more snow are in the mid-December extended outlook.
