DENVER — A storm system is rolling over southern Colorado and will bring some heavy snow to the San Juan, La Garita and Sangre de Cristo Mountains tonight and early Tuesday. The Central and Northern Mountains will have much lighter snow and the Denver area will mostly see flurries or up to a half an inch of snow, just flurries are expected for the Northeast Plains.
Temperatures will be cold tonight and Tuesday. Lows will be in the teens to middle 20s for Denver and the plains and in the single digits and teens in the mountains. Highs on Tuesday will be in the 20s and low 30s in the mountains and mid-to upper 30s for lower elevations.
There will be a chance for flurries Tuesday morning, then skies will be clearing in the Denver area. Snow showers will linger over southern Colorado until late in the day.
Skies will be sunny on Wednesday and highs will return to the low to mid-50s for Denver and the eastern plains and in the 30s in the mountains.
Thursday will be dry, but clouds will increase again ahead of the next storm system. Highs will be in the 30s in the mountains and 40s to low 50s on the plains.
Light snow will develop from west to east on Friday and light snow is expected over the weekend along with colder temperatures.
