DENVER — The recent heavy snow in the mountains has created extreme avalanche conditions over most of the high country in Colorado. The snow has lightened up a bit, but another surge of moisture will move in from the west early today and bring at least another foot of snow to the mountains.

Partly cloudy and dry conditions are expected through morning in Denver. It will be a bit milder in the Denver area with highs in the low to mid-50s. A few rain showers will develop in Denver and across the plains in the afternoon. In the mountains, the snow will increase and become heavy by midday through early Saturday with at least another foot of snow.
For Denver and northeastern Colorado, snow will arrive Friday night and early Saturday with a couple inches likely over northeastern Colorado and some flurries for Denver. Road conditions will be slick over the northeast corner of Colorado early Saturday as a strong storm develops across the Great Plains of Nebraska and the Dakotas.
Skies will return to partly cloudy and gusty northwest winds should help clear out the air pollution that has hung over Denver and the Front Range for the past several days. A High Wind Watch is in effect for late Friday night and Saturday morning for the Front Range Foothills west of Denver. Gusts to 70 mph will be possible - not helping the avalanche conditions.
Drier and milder weather will return again for Sunday and Monday, followed by a strong storm late next Tuesday and Wednesday that could bring heavy snow to the mountains and plains!
