DENVER — The HEAT rolls on! Temperatures soared to 10 to 15 degrees above normal Wednesday afternoon with a high of 93 degrees in Denver - one shy of the record set in 1911. In the mountains, highs were in the 70s to low 80s. The Western Valleys reached the 80s to around 90 degrees.
Northwestern Colorado has high fire danger with gusty winds, dry conditions and low relative humidity. A Fire Weather Warning is in effect again for Thursday.
Denver will be close more record readings, the record on Thursday is 96 degrees, set in 1990. The predicted high is 93 degrees. On Friday the record is 92 degrees, set in 1948 and the predicted high in 92 degrees.
Little change in the overall weather pattern is expected through the upcoming weekend. Hot and dry conditions will prevail statewide, although temperatures will not be quite as high - around 90 degrees on Saturday and in the upper 80s for Sunday. Fire danger will remain high, so be careful out there!
The gradual cooling trend will continue into early next week with highs returning to the low to mid-80s Monday and Tuesday.
