A stormy week ahead for Colorado

DENVER — Periods of wet weather will affect Colorado this week. with even a chance for snow!

Showers and thunderstorms will rumble across eastern Colorado tonight and Tuesday. Scattered severe thunderstorms have developed tonight and some areas of dense fog will form on the plains, while a cool rain is more likely Tuesday.

Chilly and unsettled weather will stick around through Friday with temperatures well below normal for early May. Some snow will fall in the mountains above 10,000 feet. Lows tonight will be in the 30s in the mountains and in the low to mid-40s for Denver and the eastern plains.

Wednesday will be even colder with temperatures in the mid-to upper 40s in Denver and the rain will mix with snow late Wednesday and early Thursday. While 6 to 10 inches of snow will fall in the mountains, Denver should see some accumulations on grassy areas, but the roads could turn a little slushy for the early Thursday morning drive.

The weather will stay cool and unsettled Thursday with more showers and highs in the 40s.

Friday will remain cool with some lingering showers and highs in the upper 50s.

Finally on Saturday, skies are expected to clear out, with temperatures returning to around 60 degrees. Sunday and Monday will be dry and milder at last!
