DENVER —
Denver soared to 105 degrees at 2:20 PM on Thursday, tying the all-time record for any day in the Mile High City - dating back to the 19th Century! We have hit 105 degrees four other times, twice in 2012 and in 2005 and way back in 1878.
For Friday however, our temperatures will "cool" into the mid 90s for the afternoon. This is the beginning of temperatures dropping over the next few days. We do have a chance for scattered afternoon thunderstorms on Friday. Our better chance for storms will be on Saturday as cooler air moves in and highs drop into the low 80s for the day. Temperatures will be back in the 70s for the mountains this weekend.
We have slight chances for rain on Sunday in the afternoon with highs in the upper 80s.
More hot and dry weather will return to Colorado early next week.
Remember to never leave a child or a pet inside of a parked car during this heatwave. A closed-up vehicle can quickly warm to 120 degrees in just a few minutes.
