DENVER — The snow has ended to just flurries and skies will clear tonight. Record cold temperatures cover eastern Colorado. Denver set the record for the coldest maximum temperature for Oct. 14th. The high only reached 28 degrees, easily beating the previous record of 36 set in 1969.
By Monday morning, skies will have cleared and temperatures will be very cold. Expect a low in Denver of 12 degrees with single digit readings in the mountains. By the way, the current record low for Oct. 15 is 20 degrees, set in 1970!
The snow will end over the central and southern mountain areas early Monday, but watch out for snow covered and slippery roads. In the Denver area, most roads will be in good shape for the morning commute, although some areas of fog can be expected to the northeast of Denver - especially along the South Platte River.
After that cold start to the workweek, conditions will thaw out nicely this week. Monday will only be in the 40s, but Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer statewide. Expect highs back in the 50s on Tuesday and 60s by Wednesday.
Dry weather conditions can be expected this week, with the only exception being a chance for a few showers over southern Colorado Thursday and Friday. Next weekend should be dry, pleasant and much warmer!
