A spring storm is now swirling over Colorado, bringing wet and cool weather for the next 24 hours.
Rain and snow will continue in the mountains , with the snow level around 6,000 feet. Winter Weather Advisories cover most of the Colorado high country. Total storm accumulations will be 6 to 12 inches.
Colder temperatures overnight will cause the rain showers to mix with or turn to snow in Denver and along the I-25 Corridor. Snow may accumulate to 1-3 inches by Saturday morning for elevations above 6,000 feet. Downtown Denver will have a mix of rain and snow overnight and Saturday morning, but the snow will melt.
The storm will wind down on Saturday with the precipitation ending and some clearing possible over the northwest half of the state by late afternoon. Total moisture from this storm will be .25" to .75" for the Denver area with .50" to 1.00" of liquid in the mountains and over the eastern quarter of the state.
The skies will clear Saturday evening and Sunday should be a delightful day with sunshine and warmer weather. Highs will rebound to the low to mid 60s in Denver Sunday afternoon.
Monday will be sunny in the morning, turning partly cloudy with a few late day showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be around 70 degrees.
Tuesday will be cooler, but dry with highs in the 50s. Wednesday will be dry and mild, followed by a few showers and cooler weather on Thursday.
