DENVER — A major snowstorm hits Colorado to start our Thanksgiving travel week!

A powerful winter storm continues to hammer the northern half of Colorado with heavy snow, strong winds, big drifts and closed roads!
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect though Tuesday afternoon, with heavy snow, strong winds and cold conditions. Snow total of 8 to 12 inches are possible for the Denver area, with 18 to 24 inches around Fort Collins! Winds will gust to 40 mph, causing extensive blowing and drifting and closing roads by early Tuesday.
The northeast plains will get 8 to 12 inches of snow and strong winds! Travel will be very difficult to impossible, during the day Tuesday.
There will be many, many closures and delays, so please plan accordingly and delay your own travel plans if possible until Wednesday.
Skies clear out on Wednesday, but temperatures stay chilly, with highs in the upper 20s.
For Thanksgiving, expect increasing and highs around 40 degrees. A new storm system will begin to move into Colorado during the afternoon and evening.
Another storm system will bring more snow, possibly heavy to Colorado Friday and early Saturday.
