DENVER — Severe weather producing heavy rain and hail developed over northeastern Colorado Monday. The National Weather Service issued tornado watches and warnings for several counties on the eastern plains, including the Denver metro area. Those watches have all expired for the Denver metro area. 5 tornadoes were confirmed by the NWS for Sunday and we also had 8 confirmed for Monday.

4:58 p.m. | The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for northeastern Logan Count, northwestern Phillips County, and Sedgwick County until 5:30 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 17 miles south of Chappell, moving east at 45 mph.

1:47 p.m. | The National Weather Service confirmed at least one tornado touched down eight miles north of Strasburg. There were no reports of injuries or damages.

1:12 p.m. | A tornado watch was issued for parts of Colorado, including Denver, as well as parts of Wyoming and Nebraska just before 1 p.m. Monday.

Now we focus on a cold front arriving in Colorado for Tuesday. This will cause soggy, cool weather to affect the Front Range on Tuesday. Highs will only be in the 50s for the day with rain. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for our central and southern mountains for Monday night and Tuesday for 6"-10" of snow above 9000 feet. In our northern mountains, there is a Winter Storm Warning for 8"-16" of snow.

Drier and warmer weather will return for the middle of the week.
