DENVER -- A weak cold front will move across Colorado tonight, bringing only a few light showers to the northern mountains. The Denver area will stay dry and breezy, slightly cooler air arriving for the weekend.
Scattered high-based, gusty thunderstorms will be possible for the northern mountains and over the far NE plains with the passage of this front, but most areas will stay dry.
Fire Danger will remain high across the central and southern parts of Colorado through the weekend, so be very careful with any outdoor burning.
Saturday will be sunny, but cooler with temperatures dropping back into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. There will be some gusty northwest winds, especially across the northeast quarter of the state.
In the mountains, the weather will be sunny and pleasant with highs in the 70s - just be cautious as conditions are so dry.
On Sunday, there will be a better chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening as a minor weather disturbance drifts across Colorado. Highs will be in the 70s to near 80 in the mountains and in the low to mid-80s for Denver and the eastern plains.
Hot and mostly dry weather will return to the central Rockies for next week with highs in the 90s for lower elevations and 80s in the mountains. Rain chances will stay quite low for most of the work week - perhaps the best chance of any storms will be on Tuesday afternoon.
