A hotter and drier weather pattern will develop for the start of the long Fourth of July holiday weekend. Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly sunny, with less than a 20% chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Highs will be in the low 90s for Denver and the eastern plains, with 70s to low 80s in the mountains.
Skies will clear in the overnight hours across the state with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s for lower elevations and in the 40s in the high country.
The thunderstorm chances should stay pretty low through Thursday, with just isolated afternoon and evening storms. A new weather disturbance will swing into Colorado starting Friday and will bring more moisture and instability to our atmosphere. There will be a good chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms Friday through Monday.
Temperatures will be a bit cooler over the weekend, due to increased cloud cover and the better chance for thunderstorms.
