DENVER — Say goodbye to the 80-degree weather - the pattern is turning back to cool and wet!
Severe thunderstorms raced across northeastern Colorado during the mid-to late afternoon with numerous reports of strong winds and large hail over Weld, Morgan, Logan and Sedgwick Counties as well as over western Nebraska and Kansas.
The severe threat is over for Colorado, and scattered showers and light thunderstorms will end over the extreme northeast corner of the state. Some snow showers have been falling in the northern and central mountains, they will diminish.
Latest reports: Here are some of the storm reports from this afternoon.
The stormy weather rolled in ahead of a change in the weather pattern that will now bring cool and unsettled conditions to Colorado for the next few days. Temperatures will be much cooler with highs in the 60s for Denver and the eastern plains, with 30s and 40s in the mountains this weekend.
Showers will develop Saturday with snow in the mountains above 9,000 feet.
Sunday will be better with partly cloudy skies and only a few showers. Expect highs in the middle 60s for lower elevations and 40s to near 50 in the mountains.
A stronger storm system will arrive Monday with more rain and much cooler temperatures. There will be accumulating snow in the mountains Monday and Tuesday and a chance for snow in the Denver area Tuesday morning! Highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s.
The storm early next week will be a very soggy one with one to two inches of liquid expected over much of the state!
Stay tuned for updates on the changing weather.
