DENVER — Skies were mostly sunny and temperatures were delightfully warm to start the work-week! Highs climbed to the lower 70s in Denver and across the eastern plains - a good ten degrees warmer than normal for early April. Tonight will be mostly clear with lows in the upper 30s to middle 40s for lower elevations and in the 20s in the mountains.

Tuesday will be another warm and pleasant day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 70s once again for lower elevations and in the 50s in the mountains. Winds will be gusty from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph, with some peak gusts above 35 mph.

A strong storm system is swirling over the West Coast and is dumping heavy rain and snow over California and Oregon. This storm will begin to move closer to the Rockies on Wednesday and push across Colorado on Thursday. Rain and snow will develop in the mountains late Wednesday, while clouds increase in Denver and across the plains. Temperatures will be a bit cooler with 30s and 40s in the mountains and upper 50s to middle 60s on the plains.

Thursday will be colder with heavy snow likely in the mountains and rain showers for the plains. Highs will be in the 30s in the mountains and 40s to low 50s for Denver and the plains.

Friday and Saturday will be a bit unsettled with scattered showers for lower elevations and light snow in the mountains.

A stronger storm system will move into the Rockies for Easter Sunday with colder weather and a good change for rain and snow.
