DENVER — First Alert Action Day: Another snowstorm is moving into Colorado and will spread heavy snow over the northern mountains and parts of the northeast plains.

Snow is developing in the mountains, with a mix of rain and snow this evening for Denver and the eastern plains. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for metro Denver as well as the NE part of the state. The advisory begins at 10pm tonight and expires at 6pm Thursday evening. The snow will increase in coverage and intensity tonight and early Thursday and will not move out of Colorado until Thursday night.

The northern mountains will likely see 8 -15 inches of snow tonight through Thursday. Denver and the Front Range should expect 3-6 inches of snow, with the heaviest mainly north of Denver toward Fort Collins and Cheyenne, WY. Snowfall amounts will be lighter farther to the south and east, with little snow expected from Colorado Springs across the southeast plains.

This storm will not be as cold as the last one, so low temperatures will not dive into the low teens and single digits. but will be in the 15 to 20 degree range Friday morning.

Highs will bounce back to the low 50s Friday afternoon!

Fortunately, the weekend should be milder with highs back into the low to mid-60s.

Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms can be expected early next week.
