Denver — February is off to a mild start across Colorado! Despite a layer of high clouds, temperatures reached the upper 50s in Denver on Monday, with upper 30s to low 40s in the mountains.
The skies will clear quite a bit overnight and lows by morning will be in the 30s low lower elevations and teens to middle 20s in the mountains.
Tuesday will be even warmer — about 15 to 20 degrees above normal. Expect highs in the low to mid 60s across the Denver metro area on Tuesday afternoon under a mostly sunny sky.
Our next storm will hit the state on Wednesday. A cold front will bring a chance of rain by late Wednesday for Denver and the northeast plains. Snow will develop in the mountains and become heavy by Wednesday evening.
Temperatures will still be mild in advance of the cold front with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s for the Denver area. Colder air will arrive Wednesday night.
The snow will accumulate to 6-12 inches in the mountains by early Thursday. The Denver area should see 2 to 4 inches of snow late Wednesday night and Thursday. Temperatures will be much colder with highs staying in the 30s in Denver on Thursday and 20s in the mountains.
Friday will be cool and dry, with another round of snow expected on Saturday, especially in the mountains.
Highs will be much colder, in the middle 30s to low 40s for the weekend.
