DENVER — Thursday was another gorgeous day across Colorado with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s in the Denver area.  Changes will come to the metro area and the eastern plains by early Friday.

A cold front will slide into northeast Colorado overnight and back in along the Front Range by Friday morning. Expect increasing clouds, areas of fog and even a little drizzle early Friday morning.  Much cooler temperatures are expected with morning lows in the upper 30s to low 40s in Denver and across the northeast plains.

Skies will stay mostly cloudy through the morning with clearing skies in the afternoon.  It will be a cool day with highs only in the upper 50s to low 60s in the Denver area and over the eastern plains.

The front will stall over the Continental Divide, keeping the cool air over eastern Colorado.  The mountains and western valleys will be much warmer with highs in the 70s in the mountains and 80s in the Grand Junction area.

It will get quite a bit warmer this weekend as the front slides off to the east of Colorado early Saturday.  Expect sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the 80s for Denver both Saturday and Sunday. The mountains will be dry, with highs in the 60s to low 70s.

The aspens remain pretty in the mountains! The central and southern mountain areas will be reaching peak color for the next five to seven days. Northern areas are past peak, but still feature some pretty pockets of color.

Monday will be a warm and dry day with highs in the low 80s in Denver.  The weather should be delightful Monday evening for the Bronco game. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s at kickoff and drop to the upper 50s in the fourth quarter.

A weak storm system will move into Colorado on Tuesday with clouds and scattered showers possible Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
