DENVER — Thursday was a hot day in Denver and the eastern plains with highs in the low 90s.  Skies clouded up a little and isolated light showers did not bring much moisture, but did cause some locally gusty winds.

Friday will be another very warm day with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees for Denver and the eastern plains.  In the mountains, temperatures will be in the 70s with some isolated afternoon showers.

The weather pattern will begin to change over the the holiday weekend. A weak cold front will push across the northern Rockies on Saturday with an increase in clouds and a chance for showers. Highs will dip a bit with highs in the low 80s in Denver and across the plains.  The mountains will be cooler with showers likely and highs in the 60s.

Showers and thunderstorms will be likely on Sunday with even cooler temperatures. Highs will only be in the mid-to upper 70s in Denver, with 50s and 60s in the mountains.  By the way, the leaves are changing in the high country, so expect to see some early aspen glory this weekend!

The weather pattern will still be a bit showery on Labor Day with highs around 80 degrees.  In the mountains, some showers can be expected with highs in the 60s to low 70s.

Tuesday will be a little drier across Colorado with 80s for lower elevations and 70s in the mountains.

More showers and thunderstorms will be possible by next Wednesday and Thursday.
