DENVER — After a lovely stretch of October weather, a minor storm system will bring clouds, cooler temperatures and a little rain and snow to Colorado.

The storm system consists of some moisture moving northward from Arizona and New Mexico and a push of slightly cooler air moving down from the Northern Plains.

Colorado will be caught in between these two  weak weather-makers for the next couple of days. Clouds will increase across the Front Range with some rain Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The mountains will have a mix of rain and snow showers with the snow level above 10,000 feet.  Precipitation amounts will be rather light - an inch or two of snow or a few tenths of an inch of rain.

Cooler air will settle in for a couple of days with highs in the low 60s for Denver and the plains with 40s to low 50s in the mountains.

This weak storm will clear out by Thursday with highs in the mid 60s on Thursday and near 70 on Friday under a mostly sunny sky.  In the mountains, temperatures will be in the 50s to near 60 degrees during the day and upper 20s to mid-30s at night.

Next weekend will stay dry and mild, but the long range forecast is for colder and wetter weather to arrive by the end of the month.  Halloween could be cold with rain and snow!
