It feels more like spring than the first week of January. Temperatures will once again be in the low to mid-50s across the Metro Area under a partly cloudy sky.
Our mountains will see more sunshine and highs in the 30s and 40s. This next couple of days would be a good time to water the trees or shrubs because it's been so dry and warm.
The next chance of snow in the high country is this weekend! We really need some snow in the mountains as the average snow-pack is only about half of where it should be by this time of the season. Sunday should be a good day to enjoy some fresh powder on the slopes!
Snow will develop in the mountains by midday Saturday and turn heavier Saturday night into Sunday. On the plains, temperatures will remain pretty mild tomorrow as we soar once again into the 50s. This storm is a weak one and will only bring a slight chance of flurries and light snow to the plains on Sunday. It will be a bit cooler on Sunday, though, with highs in the mid-40s.
It definitely won't be enough snow to impact our seasonal totals by much. Normally, Denver would see around 22 inches of snow by early January. So far, our seasonal total is only 6.8 inches, we really could use a good snowstorm.
This pattern will eventually shift to a colder and stormier one, but we are not seeing the signal for the shift during the next 3 to 5 days.
