If you’re a cat-lover, then you likely know that cats can make pretty much anything into a bed. A cardboard box, a pile of clean laundry, your face — anything works! But because cats deserve the best, cat owners often spoil them with special beds of their very own, and the innovations are truly endless.

Thanks to a new trend, people are now turning vintage TVs into cat beds. The result? The cutest “TV show” ever. Just take a look at the kittens in this 1940s TV The Upcycle Jewellery Company posted:

These crafty creations are both whimsical and practical. Whimsical because, hello, it’s a cat in a TV! But also practical, because there are plenty of retro TVs that don’t have much of a purpose anymore, yet make for a great piece of quirky home decor. And cats do love sleeping in small, enclosed spaces, hence the cardboard box love. This is upcycling at its best!

Neko Chan’s new TV cat bed is from the Technicolor era. @PutaCerdita “did a little crafting to make the new backdrop”:

One Instructables user created a tutorial on how to make a vintage TV cat bed at home. You can find old TVs at secondhand stores, antique shops, or on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.

Once you’ve found the retro TV of your choice, you must kitty-proof it by discharging the electricity and disassembling its parts to make it hollow. Then you can decorate both the inside and the outside of the bed — don’t forget the cozy padding and blankets.

Lastly, it’s time to put the TV back together. You’ll want to give it a fun background, like the one in this photo from Boeken & Co:

If that all sounds way out of your comfort zone, you can also buy a pre-made TV cat bed from UK retailer Daals. That version even says “Meow Time!”

If these TV cat beds don’t quite fit your home decor, there are also other creative options for your cat’s next cozy abode. Try a luxury cat hammock, a giant shoe bed (because some cats love shoes!) or even some pet-dedicated Ikea furniture.
