DENVER – Travelers driving on westbound Interstate 70 faced a traffic nightmare before rush hour even began after more than 100 gallons of concrete sealer spilled on the road Thursday afternoon.
Denver Fire Department officials told drivers on Twitter to prepare for major traffic delays in the area, as WB I-70 was expected to be closed until about 5 p.m.
One lane on westbound I-70 was back open as of 3:45 p.m., according to the Denver Fire Department. All westbound lanes were back open at 5:41 p.m.
The fire department said a Hazardous Materials Team was working quickly to “mitigate 125 gallons of spilled concrete sealer.”
