People living in southeast Denver were without water for several hours following a water main break Tuesday afternoon.
Crews with Denver Water were repairing an 8-inch water main leak late into Tuesday evening at Colorado Boulevard and Louisiana Avenue, reducing traffic along North Colorado Boulevard to one lane at the Louisiana Avenue intersection.
Repairs were completed by about 11 p.m. and water was restored to all properties between Arizona and Arkansas Avenues, an official said in a statement.
Northbound Colorado is expected to be closed until about 3 a.m. to accommodate final repairs and repaving operations on the roadway. Detour signage is in place and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
Denver Water has not identified the cause of the leak. Many factors can contribute to a main break, including age, pipe material, how corrosive the soil is, water flow and temperature.
