PLATTEVILLE, Colo. — Two females died after a car collided with a train early Tuesday morning in Platteville.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. where Weld County Road 24 intersects Highway 85, according to the Platteville Police Department. At the scene, officers found a Nissan Altima on its side.
After an investigation, the police department concluded that the car had been traveling eastbound on County Road 34 prior to the crash. According to witnesses at the scene, the car seemed to have run a stop sign before the intersection and was then struck by the train.
Both of the females inside died at the scene. Police Chief Carl Dwyer said the female's ages and names are not available.
The Platteville Police Department is handling the crash investigation.
