DENVER – Heading to the Denver Parade of Lights this Friday and Saturday? You may want to get there early or consider other means of transportation because traffic is going to be a mess in downtown during the two-day event.
The Denver Parade of Lights starts at 8 p.m. Friday and at 6 p.m. Saturday, starting at the intersection of 14th and Bannock St. and traveling through downtown Denver along Tremont St., 17th St., Arapahoe St. and 15th St.
So what streets are going to be closed and when will closures start?
Closures actually started on Wednesday at Bannock St. between Colfax and 14th Ave. and will remain closed through Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m., according to the Downtown Denver Partnership.

Buses and light rail will be impacted
Bus detours on Friday are expected to last from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to an RTD spokesperson.
Impacted bus routes include: 0, 1, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 16, 16L, 19, 20, 28, 32, 38, 43, 44, 48, 52 and the Free MallRide.
The D, F, H and L lines of the light rail will be affected by the Denver Parade of Lights.
Trains traveling to downtown Denver will stop service at the Convention Center two hours before the start of the parade both Friday and Saturday, with normal service resuming as crowds go back home.
The light rail stations at 16th and Stout and 16th and California will be closed during that time, the RTD spokesperson said.
L Line service will run between 20th and Welton and 30th and Downing, but will not be available at the 16th and Stout, 16th and California, 18th and Stout and 18th and California stations during this time, the spokesperson added.
