BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – A teenager from Windsor was killed and two other people were injured following a head-on collision on I-25 near Highway 7 early Thanksgiving morning.

The head-on crash happened at around 3:04 a.m., when a Jeep, driven by Alex Rodriguez, 25, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25, according to a Colorado State Patrol Dispatch spokesperson.

The Jeep, going the wrong way, crashed head-on with a Subaru driven by a 16-year-old male. A passenger inside that Subaru, a 19-year-old, was declared dead at the scene.

Rodriguez, from Fort Lupton, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital along with the 16-year-old driver of the Subaru, who is from Windsor. The 16-year-old was reported to have life-threatening injuries.

All three were wearing seatbelts, according to CSP trooper Josh Lewis. DUI is being investigated as a possible factor in this crash.

NB I-25 was closed near Highway 7 at mile marker 231 for about seven hours as authorities investigated the crash.
