I-25 North Express Lanes begin charging tolls July 12

and last updated

The I-25 Express Lanes between U.S. 36 and 120th Avenue began charging tolls on Tuesday, July 12.

The lanes opened in mid-March.

Tolls were waived for the first few months to allow drivers to test the lanes and allow the Colorado Department of Transportation to text their equipment, officials said.

There are three entrances to the Express Lanes, but CDOT said it wants to encourage throughput and will charge the same price no matter where drivers enter the Express Lanes.

The toll rates range in price from $1 to $6.75, depending on the time of day, and whether users have a transponder or are being billed. See the toll schedule here. Learn how to get a switchable transponder here.

From northbound I-25, the entrances are before 84th Avenue, at Thornton Parkway and at 104th Avenue. From southbound I-25, the entrances are after 120th Avenue, before Thornton Parkway and before 84th Avenue.
