Driving You Crazy: More road work on Meadows Parkway at the Castle Rock Outlets

A new lane will help move traffic off I-25

In a follow-up to the Driving You Crazy complaint of the traffic mess on Meadows Parkway at I-25, CDOT will make some more improvements at that interchange.

CDOT has started work to build a continuous westbound lane on Meadows Parkway between the southbound Interstate 25 on-ramp and the southbound I-25 off-ramp. Traffic engineers believe that additional lane will greatly improve traffic flow for drivers going west towards the Meadows.

CDOT says this project will create a 12-foot through lane on westbound Meadows Parkway and shorten the island on the southbound I-25 off-ramp.

CDOT will also install new concrete in all lanes at the top of the southbound I-25 off-ramp, install new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and the relocate the underground fiber optic cables and signal poles on the north side of the intersection.

The work will be mostly during evening and overnight hours but will last until 6 a.m. on most mornings which could affect early morning Castle Rock commuters. A full closure of the southbound I-25 on-ramp is already scheduled for mid-November. The new Castle Rock Parkway will be the preferred alternate route around that ramp closure as well as around the nightly work zone.

This project is taking place in conjunction with the Alberta Development project, which will add an additional right lane from the I-25 off-ramp intersection to the Factory Shops Blvd/Castleton Drive intersection. The work is scheduled to be complete by the end of November 2016.
