Trump inauguration protests turn violent

Thousands of protestors descended on the nation's capitol to make their voices heard as supporters of President Trump entered the National Mall to attend his inauguration.

For most of the morning they were peaceful protests.

Around 10:30 a.m. a group of anarchists, dressed in all black with their faces mostly covered, marched towards the secure zones.

The further they marched the more destructive they became. Flipping newspaper stands turned into smashing car windows, and eventually smashing windows out of several buildings.

One of the storefronts targeted was a Starbucks with people inside.

Those people took cover as glass shattered around them.

Riot police moved in, scattering the group.

Washington D.C. police say at least two of their officers were hurt trying to break the crowd up.

So far police have arrested more than 95 people.

Violent protests continued following President Trump's inauguration ceremony, with police setting off more concussion grenades and possibly deploying tear gas. People were seen running from the gas with their faces covered.

WJLA-TV reported another group of protestors blocked traffic along the Southeast-Southwest DC Freeway.
