Getting married is one of the most special days for brides and grooms alike, but the cost of it all can become one of the biggest stressors before the big day.

“I’m trying to stick to a budget. My fiancé and I, we don't have a lot of money,” said recently-engaged Kia Felix.

The lack of money makes planning for the perfect wedding a bit tough. The average U.S. wedding costs upwards of $31,000. And the dress, on average, costs more than $1,300.

“That is ridiculous. That's like half our budget,” said Felix.
“I think that's completely unreasonable,” said Morgan Graphman, a recent bride.

So what's a bride-to-be to do? Get thrifty, of course.

“It’s anyone from a bride on a really tight budget or maybe a bride that this is their second wedding and they don't want to go all out,” said Jessica Hudgins with Goodwill Industries of Denver.

The nonprofit has dozens of dresses on display. Most have only been worn once, but all of them cost less than $200.

“I feel like if I can't find something here today, then I’m being way too picky,” said Felix.

Graphman found her dream dress at Goodwill for $150, much to the relief of her mom.

“I was surprised that we found it so quickly,” she said.

And the best part? Graphman said none of her guests had any idea.

“People were selling it used online for upwards of $800-900 dollars online,” she said.
