The Valley Transportation Authority is the only public transit that goes directly to Levi's Stadium for Super Bowl 50. VTA is getting the word out early that fans who take the train system need a special pre-purchased fare before they are allowed on.

Levi's stadium is in Santa Clara, 45 miles south of San Francisco. Lots of fans will be staying in San Francisco because many of the fun festivities are being held there.

The setup is very similar to Super Bowl 48 in New York and New Jersey. All the fan activities were in Times Square while the game was played in New Jersey. Valley Transportation Authority's Stacey Hendler Ross says the New Jersey trains were overwhelmed with fans. She says some fans didn't even make it to the game in time.

"We've been working for over a year to prevent the same issues New Jersey had," she said.

VTA is planning to carry up to and no more than 12,000 passengers to Levi's Stadium via light rail and express bus in accordance with the needs of the NFL and what VTA can efficiently and safely manage.

EvenTIK fare is good on all transit that day. The round-trip EvenTIK fare must be downloaded on a smartphone. The activated image on the phone is the proof of purchase required.
