Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes has been reinstated by Major League Baseball, nearly nine months after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault in Hawaii.

Prosecutors charged Reyes, but dismissed the charge saying Katherine Reyes refused to cooperate with the investigation.

MLB’s domestic violence policy, announced last summer, allows the league to discipline and suspend players even if they are not convicted.

MLB suspended Reyes without pay through May 31.

Wednesday, the Rockies said Reyes had been reinstated and subsequently designated for assignment. The team said it's 40-man roster is currently full, but didn't say what that meant for Reyes.

ESPN reported the Rockies now have 10 days to either trade Reyes, release him or have him accept a demotion to the minors.

ESPN also reported that Reyes is the Rockies' highest-paid player and is due $22 million in each of the next two seasons.
