Rockies' Reyes on leave during investigation

Posted

Major League Baseball has put Colorado Rockies' shortstop Jose Reyes on paid leave.

Major League Baseball said Reyes is on leave, "pending completion of his criminal proceedings in Hawaii."

Maui police arrested Reyes after an argument Oct. 31 with his wife that allegedly turned physical at the Four Seasons Resort.

According to a recording of the 911 call released by police, a hotel security guard reported that the woman had injuries to her left leg and scratches on her neck.

Reyes was arrested and then released after posting $1,000 bail.

Reyes has pleaded not guilty.

Major League Baseball released a statement that said Reyes was placed on paid leave, pursuant to MLB's joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

The statement said MLB's Commissioner's Office is also investigating the incident.
