DENVER – Colorado native Jaelin Howell, 17, was called up to the U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team Wednesday and will be available to play in exhibition matches over the next several weeks.

Howell is a native of Windsor and has played for Real Colorado as part of the USWNT youth program since she started with the U-14 team in 2013.

She most recently has been playing with the U-23 team based out of Portland, but won the 2016 U-16 ECNL National Championship with Real Colorado.

She played at Fossil Ridge High School as a freshman, where she was named an NSCAA All-American in 2015, and has committed to play at Florida State in 2018.

Howell replaces midfielder Lindsey Horan, who is out with a hip flexor strain.

She will be available for Wednesday night’s match against Portland Thorns FC and is expected to be available when the U.S. plays Russia April 6 in Chicago and April 9 in Houston.
