DENVER – Turning 25 should be reason to celebrate, no doubt. Coors Field is doing that and more on Opening Day as it welcomes fans with a gigantic new scoreboard, renovated areas and new food options like the Rocky Mountain Oyster Po’Boy this Friday.
Before you get to see the Rockies take on the Atlanta Braves however, you’ll notice a few new things throughout the ballpark. Among the most notorious? The new 8,369 square feet scoreboard, with a display size equivalent to 784 60-inch televisions.
Not impressed yet? The display will give you HD1080P resolution and will light the field with 6.8 million LED lights. Imagine how that will look like on a fine, summer evening.
As you head to your seat, perhaps you’ll also notice that the netting has been replaced behind the home plate. The upgrade came with state-of-the-art material and was extended at the same height to the outfield end of each dugout so as to avoid any potential safety hazards during the season.
OK, so now that you’ve sat for a while and watched as Chuck Nazty (real name Charlie Blackmon) or Nolan Arenado score runs around the field, perhaps it’s time to grab a drink or a bite to eat.

You’ll be surprised to find that The Tavern Ballpark is no more and has been replaced instead by the Coors Light Silver Bullet Bar on the first level of the Rooftop. The bar will serve more than 25 local and national craft beers.
Looking for a warm place to hang out and watch the game? You may want to check out to the Club Level Bar on the third base side, which has been completely renovated, expanding onto and enclosing the outdoor deck. It features exposed brick and girders, floor-to-ceiling windows and a lot more seats for fans.
Renovations have not only happened for the fans, though. The Rockies’ home clubhouse now has a new video room, quiet room, barber shop, laundry room as well as a bigger interview room, all with state-of-the-art technology.

But what if you want to sate your appetite?
You’ll be pleased to find out that this year, eleven new food items have been introduced into the menu at Coors Field, among them the much-talked about Rocky Mountain Oysters Po’Boy. Coors Field is also offering a new take on tacos and is celebrating with their 25th anniversary drinks.

Also new this season is a UCHealth target sign in the left field.
Each time a Rockies home run hits the “Hit the Mitt” sign, UCHealth will make a $5,000 donation through the Colorado Rockies Foundation to Gold Grown Foundation, a nonprofit that offers youth sports and education programs to nearly 20,000 children annually throughout Colorado and surrounding areas.
The home opener against the Braves starts at 2:10 p.m., but you’re encouraged to be in your seat by 1:15 p.m. for the Opening Day program ceremonies.
