Broncos QB situation stays the same for now

Posted

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak talked about the team's quarterback situation Monday after the Broncos lost to the Raiders 15-12 on Sunday. Kubiak said until he meets with Peyton Manning and sees where he is physically, Brock Osweiler remains the starting quarterback.

"Nothing has changed until I sit down and see exactly where Peyton's at and where we're moving this week. And so if we went out for practice today,  absolutely nothing has changed."

Kubiak said he was encouraged by Manning's recovery last week as he went through rehab for a torn plantar fascia in his left foot.

"We went through a good week last week. We gave him the weekend off, so we'll see where we're at," Kubiak said. "We'll have a plan in place by the time we get to Wednesday, but we'll see where we're at today, and kind of take it a day at a time."

The Broncos are 7-2 in Manning's starts and 3-1 with Osweiler as the starter.

Manning threw the ball with the team's training staff last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Before that Peyton spent a week in a walking cast and another three days in a walking boot. He was on the sidelines during the loss to the Raiders talking to Brock Osweiler on the bench.
