Cargo denies report he wants to be traded, headed for All-Star Home Run Derby

Posted

Rockies All-Star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez addressed reports Thursday that he expressed a desire to be traded to Rockies management.

"Nothing is true because obviously I haven’t talked to anybody, I haven’t said that to anybody. Not even my wife, or my kids, or my mom.” Gonzalez said. “I never complain about wanting to go somewhere else.”

The report came from MLB Network and said "Gonzalez has expressed an interest in going elsewhere and people around the team are aware of it (Rockies GM Jeff Bridich said he would keep all those conversations “private”), and the Rockies will likely float not one but two outfield stars, Gonzalez and also Charlie Blackmon (Carlos and Charlie seem to go together), just as they did this winter."

Cargo also was named as a participant in the All-Star Home Run Derby. He is the 7th seed in the Derby and will face off against Todd Frazier of the White Sox in the first round. Cargo has 18 homers this season.
