The 17th meeting of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady is being featured this week on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Manning and Brady's teams, the Broncos and Patriots, are playing Sunday in Denver for the AFC Championship.
Interestingly, the magazine is calling it "The Last Tango," insinuating that Manning will retire after this season, even though he's made no formal announcement.
"The cover package reports on the storied rivalry between the two quarterbacks, includes analysis and predictions for both conference championship games, and examines the Patriots’ adaptable offense," Sports Illustrated said.
“What mattered to Peyton Manning was that he had extended his season by another week and was returning to another AFC championship game and adding another chapter—perhaps the last—in one of the most storied rivalries in sports," said SI Senior Writer Greg Bishop. "That would be Brady-Manning, as in Tom and Peyton, two quarterbacks who have defined a generation.”
Former Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis talks about Tom Brady’s analytical abilities saying, “I don’t know if I’ve ever met anyone who reads coverages as quickly and correctly. [When I was there] you could count on one hand the times he saw something incorrectly.”
The new issue of SI hits newsstands on Wednesday.
