Longtime Broncos owner Pat Bowlen suffered a blood clot and spent a lengthy stay in a hospital before the Broncos' playoff run, according to an NFL source. Bowlen, 71, is battling Alzeheimer's and has since returned home.
In 2014, Bowlen resigned control of the Broncos because of his health. Team president and CEO Joe Ellis has taken control of the team's daily operations, and general manager and executive vice president John Elway continues to handle football decisions.
