CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- The NFL suspended Broncos safety Shiloh Keo for two games on Friday for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The ban traces back to Keo's DUI arrest on Feb. 13 in Idaho. Keo pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge, leaving him in line for discipline.

Keo, 28, will be allowed to remain with the Broncos until the team sets its 53-man roster. He is then barred from the facilities until after the second game.

Keo has been running with the second team in drills, but faces competition at his position. The Broncos drafted two safeties, Justin Simmons and Will Parks. Simmons is a lock to make the team, and Parks is gaining traction after a slow start in training camp.

A fifth-round pick out of Idaho in 2011 by Houston, Keo gained notoriety last season after reconnecting with Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips on Twitter. Keo played for Phillips in Houston, but was out of the game looking for work. Phillips downplayed the Twitter angle -- he didn't want hundreds of tryout requests per week -- saying Keo brought experience to a secondary that was undermined by injuries late in the year. Keo struggled against the Raiders and Steelers, both Broncos' losses, but rebounded with an interception in the final regular-season game of the season and made valuable contributions on special teams in the playoffs.

The Broncos re-signed Keo on a one-year, $760,000 deal.
