CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Von Miller leaves an imprint everywhere he goes. He creates friends in locker rooms, at charity events and during appearances. Last week, Miller left an indelible image on his Snapchat. Or more specifically on his legs.
Miller got two new huge tattoos. On his right leg, he paid homage to his home state of Texas. On his left leg, he received art commemorating his greatest individual and team accomplishment. Emblazoned on his thigh sits the Super Bowl 50 Trophy with the letters MVP underneath and Von Miller's autograph accenting the ink.
I reached out to Miller, telling him I liked the new artwork.
"Thanks. I finally got time to do it," said Miller.
This spring everything is different for Von. He spent the days and months after the Broncos' Super Bowl title traveling the globe, filming commercials and Dancing With The Stars. He missed Denver's offseason while creating leverage for a new longterm contract which he landed at the July 15 deadline. Miller is now training at the facility, admitting the workouts should benefit him this season. It's not like he struggled a year ago, finishing a vote shy of winning NFL's Defensive Player of the Year honors to Oakland's Khalil Mack.
I showed a picture of Miller's tattoos to general manager John Elway after the draft. He smiled.
"When I think of tattoos, I think of pain," Elway said.
When Miller thinks of tattoos, especially that one on the left, he will remember his greatest game. For now. More appear on the way.
