EXCLUSIVE: Broncos' Kayvon Webster 'loves Denver' but wants a chance to play

DENVER -- When reflecting back on the Broncos' improbable Super Bowl 50 run, don't forget cornerback Kayvon Webster. He morphed into a special teams weapon, pinning opponents back with his relentless coverage.

Webster is a winning player. In a perfect world, the unrestricted free agent would love to remain with the Broncos, he told Denver7.

"I love Denver. They have been great to me. I have played with some great players," Webster said Tuesday.

A third-round draft choice in 2013 out of South Florida, Webster owns 83 tackles in four seasons. He started two games as a rookie and has served as a valuable backup the past two years. As one of the team's fastest players, Webster became an ace on coverage, buying into his job completely.

However, he wants a bigger role, if possible, which might not exist in Denver. Webster ranks behind All-Pros Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib and nickelback Bradley Roby on the depth chart. Lorenzo Doss also appeared in 74 plays, leaving Webster fifth among corners with 58 snaps.

"I want the opportunity to play as well," Webster said.

The argument for keeping Webster is layered. He can anchor special teams and provides secondary depth after Talib missed time last year with a back injury and Doss showed inconsistency.
