Eli hopes Peyton goes out on top

Even Eli Manning may be in the dark when it comes to his brother's future plans.

In a phone conference Wednesday, Eli said Peyton hasn't given him an answer about next season, and No. 18 may not know himself.

"But I think I kind of may think like everybody else, where you see this as possibly being the last game. I don't know if he knows himself or if he's thought about it. But when you get to year 19 and you deal with some injuries and things going on... it would be a good way to go out," Eli said of Peyton's upcoming Super Bowl appearance. "I hope he can win this game. And if he decides to hang it up, he can go out on top."

Eli told reporters that a Broncos win has nothing to do with family bragging rights. Peyton has one Super Bowl ring compared to Eli's two.

"There's no bragging rights, because we both know that it's a team effort and about everything going the right way. One player can't control the outcome of a whole season or a certain game because of other circumstances. So I've never mentioned that, or we've never compared who has more rings. Never been a discussion or come up in any way."

Eli says he's proud of his big brother following his year filled with an injury, learning a new coach and sitting in as a backup.

"And now being in the Super Bowl, I'm excited for him," he said. "I'm sure once the game gets there, yeah, I usually get a little nervous. That's just kind of how it is whenever I watch him play a game. Just rooting for him and want the best for him."
