DENVER – When the Bradley Chubb fell to the Broncos in the draft, defensive coordinator Joe Woods nearly passed out.
He and the team marveled at their break, believing he was the best fit. Chubb made a seamless transition over the past two months, and now he's officially a Bronco.
The former North Carolina State star agreed a four-year contract projected in excess of $27.2 million with a $18.4 million signing bonus.
The contract includes the standard fifth-year option for first rounders, and Chubb will count roughly $5 million against the salary cap.
Chubb's agent, Erik Burkhardt, tweeted Thursday morning the deal was done and the Broncos made the news official in a press release.
It's official, #BroncosCountry!

“Congrats to our man Bradley Chubb @astronaut on signing his NFL Contract today with the @Broncos. Good things happen to good people #SSGfam,” Burkhardt said.
Chubb played defensive end at North Carolina State and was selected by the Broncos with the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft. Denver rated him tops on their board, but was prepared to trade back with Buffalo believing the Browns would select Chubb at No. 4 overall. Cleveland chose Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward instead.
#Broncos @astronaut agreed to contract. Will receive tick above $18 M signing bonus. Again, sets up for Chubb to contend for defensive rookie of year honors. I have been bullish on this pick from jump. With @DeMarcusWare in form and Rushers around him, great situation. #Denver7

The Broncos expect Chubb to contribute this year along with Von Miller and Shaq Barrett, with Shane Ray sidelined for the time being with a left wrist injury.
