He may be the Broncos backup quarterback, but Brock Osweiler is getting the starring role on a regional Sports Illustrated cover this week.
The cover photo, tweeted by the Broncos Tuesday, shows Brock throwing a pass in the snow with the headline Brock On!
The headline also says, "The Broncos (and the rest of the NFL) call for backup."
In the small print it says, "Snow Glow. After a Manning-esque comeback against the Patriots, former understudy Brock Osweiler is two for two as Denver's main man."
Osweiler was drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He got his first career start against the Chicago Bears Nov. 22. After leading the team to a 17-15 win, Osweiler was named AFC offensive player of the week.
Then Osweiler lead to the team to a come-from-behind, 30-24 overtime win against the New England Patriots on Sunday in Denver.
The new issue of Sports Illustrated hits newsstands on Wednesday. LeBron James is featured on the national cover of SI this week, while the Osweiler cover will be delivered to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.
