Colts owner talks about Peyton Manning statue

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay announced on Friday that he's going to build a statue of Peyton Manning outside Lucas Oil Stadium.

It was sentimental but also kind of awkward.

"It’ll be a destination spot for all of our fans... just like Jim Morrison’s grave. Uh, even though it’s not a grave," Irsay said.

"It will be a destination for people to leave cans of Budweiser, or notes for you, so we’ll collect those and get those to ya as the years pass," he said.

It might have been the most clumsy introduction possible.

Irsay also said Indianapolis thinks of Peyton as "ours," despite the team forcing out the quarterback almost exactly four years ago.

Then Manning took over and talked about that time he went to Mexico and got "Montezuma's revenge," which was pretty awkward, too.
